The confusion I was trying to avoid, MS and others, Is I have found silicone CALK used in these places.
Yes, dielectric grease is the stuff. I use it in lots of electronic-places on computer-controlled autos...recently we've had a lively discussion on the TDI-forum about putting it on all those little multi-pin connectors in the engine compartment.

gspd.... so when you took your tank off your wiring was shocking....
What about your shorts? Shorts make for really hot wiring....
