based on the size of my pushrod seals, Matt told me I had a "Pre-August 1975" model. I do not have an o-ring on my flywheel, so I hope the cross over on that was not the same as the bolts.
In any case, nothing gave at all when I went to 80 Ft-pounds so I am gonna call that part good.

The book says to do it with new bolts only and that they must be dry. They don't say what to toruque it to. Then in itallics, they say the factory has revised this and says using the old bolts is ok, and they should have engine oil on them and they should be torqued to 92 foot pounds. My wrench only goes to 80 pounds and that seemed pretty damn tight so I quit. If someone thinks it is critical to go up to 92, please let me know.
I put the clutch plate back in using a couple long bolts and then started the old proper bolts. Before tightning it down, I stabbed the transmission and things seem to line up, so I went round and round until there was no more give in the spring, but I have not tourqued it yet. I have ordered new bolts for this and they have not come in yet.
They are allan head. Anyone know how to put a tourqe wrench on that and how critical is it to get them right.
These came out without much effort.
Lastly, I thought I would share this. I have taken so much crap off this bike it floats:
you torque allen bolts with a allen socket,

Yeah...pushrod tube change was definitely 1975 and earlier...and 1976 and later.
I checked a (February) 1975 R90S engine I have sitting on the shelf...it has the small pushrod tubes and the larger (11mm) flywheel bolts...most likely exactly what your bike has. So again, you're fine with 80 ft-lbs.

I guess I knew that - but I just have a set of Merican allen sockets. For some reason, I have never bought metric ones. When are all those other people gonna learn to use the right tools. 1/4, 3/8, 7/16 etc.

lots of americans drive on the left side of the road, especially when comming home from the Pub, beer joint or club, as a young man I found my self on the LH side of the road more than once comming home. Merry Chirstmas
