I had documented evidence that the 6200 miles was genuine and so thought it was a distinct possibility that my wheels had never been off in 28 years. Certainly the bearing grease throughout the bike was of original vintage. I've got to admit I just assumed it was the factory that put a dab of paint across the washer and top flat of the nut as a tell tale mark.

On the other hand if bikes were crated with the front wheel off it might have been the dealer ? Perhaps Duane would know.
