I am looking forward to meeting you too Rob, and everyone else. All these years I've been posting on the forum but have never met any of its other denizens.

Will there be computers? Is there wireless connectivity? I don't know yet if I am bringing my laptop. If so we can write some code or something eh? :D

I thought Duane was coming too?

I saw Super Dave posting to the forum from something like a Blackberry one time when I was there. I think it was the first year Paris showed up. But I think he was running through his phone carrier. Dave is a techno-geek.

I will have a 7" pad with me. A Google Nexus. I was hoping to have it in my tank bag with realtime (fed by the GPS chip inside) mapping on Google Maps, but that is turning out to be more difficult that I imagined. I have some apps loaded as referred in ADVrider, and the Google Map application allows you to capture up to 6 detailed maps of varying size (custom), but I can't get the G.M. app to take my custom routes that I routed on my P.C. (Least interstate).

The bottom line is, you can't see the damn thing anyway between sunglasses, the map window and the bright sun.
But it will be great for stops along side the road in case I get lost and need to be somewhere, or if I want to get lost!

I'll still be packing the handheld (GPSr, not gun!) on the handlebars.
I hope to find a few geocaches along the way!

I also printed out some detailed maps of my intended routes. Some include the backway from St. Louis to Ron's in Springfield. I'm only going as far as Sullivan, MO the first day, only using the interstate to skirt major metro.
Hoping to groove to some roads less travelled.
This is my intended route for day two. I should get to Ron's pretty early. I do want to see that new shop of his!

Ron, if you are reading this, I am planning on eating lunch at the Eatin' Place in Houston (in Texas County!). I hope you still have room for me!

Just updated the rally map. Everyone's 'puter cache may not show the updated one for a while.
I just added Super Dave, Todd, Chris, and Doug in Arlington's names. Don Roberts, Ninja Gary, and Leon sound like they may can make it. I'll drop a note to Curt Henry. It wouldn't be the same without him.
:)

Yay! Looking forward to my first MC rally ever. And only my fourth long motorcycle trip. I will be on my amazingly awesome 2012 R1200GS.

Hope the weather is good since my raingear is not. In fact I don't have any raingear worth mentioning. It's not gonna rain is it?

Wow! I'm glad you're going to make it Steve> I (and others) will be looking forward to meeting you.

Uh, 'bout that rain. It does happen. But at least the temperature is usually managable, especially now since it appears that global warming is real. If worst comes to worse I can always fit you with some trash bags with slits cut in appropriate places and baling twine to take up the slack. Unfortunately there's no choice in colors. All I have is your basic black.

Steve, I have fairly low speed DSL service, but no WiFi at the moment. I'd be pleased to buy one. I've been wanting one. But you'll have to set it up.

Ken, I'll add too...in case of rain, there's always the rally bunker one could sleep under.
Here it is back at the October '04 rally doing a excellent job holding it's own against some Oklahoma drizzle.....

That would be fun. We could sit around the circle PM-ing each other! :geek:

I'll be laying in at least 5 gallons of gas anyhow Rob. The closest gas around here nowadays is Heavener, just over 20 miles away and Mena, about 30 miles away. Chances are somebody is going to need some gas. The gass will be without alcohol and the highest grade I can get. I'll also be adding Stabil because it's unlikely I will be consuming the gas myself in a timely manner.

Yes, Duane will be here. But you have to speak carefully. Be sure not to say anything about countersteering! For some strange reason he's touchy when you suggest that counteering is a valuable concept for developing riding skills.
