In good ol' Boxwerworks tradition the thread has lifted off beautifully into degradation already, covering all out famous subjects (snake oil, engine oil, beemer vs bimmers, toaster tanks, pinstripes and paint, how our wives love our hobby etc) before I even had a chance to welcome another Canadian member and say hi.

Welcome to the asylum, gocytocis.

You should know, that the the member of this forum are kind of a smaller community, holding Rallies every year (sometimes even twice) at locations in Australia and Oklahome/Texas. It's a long ride that I have done a couple of times (the one to Oklahma that is), but it's well worth it if you ever find the time.

So, where is your screen name originating? Are you a gocytocisist by trade?

I always wanted one of those. I was looking several years ago and was surprised how much decent ones go for. I think it was around ten grand for a decent example. Maybe it was less, but it was more than mama would let me spend on another toy.

There is a racing game that came with my kids' x-box and the 2002 is my favorite car to drive on it

There is a very sanitary (bedroom-car!) 2002 running around here in the Clemson area. It's a nice green.
Maybe I'll catch it someday when a camera is at hand.

My phone makes calls too sometimes. About a year ago I got calls from a work friend asking what I wanted. My phone was "butt dialing" his phone. Once was in the middle of the night when the thing was on the charger, so it wasn't butt dialing. Besides, the calls didn't show up on my phone as being made. Go figure.

Voice mail can show up many days late. Linda got mad at me for failing to do something that she told me about in a message that she left. It showed up 6 days late, along with a few other late ones. I asked my boss about this as he is quite the technical guy with the wireless industry. He admitted that AT&T was getting complaints about this very issue from customers. I wasn't alone. At that time they had no clue as to how it was happening. They just knew that it was probably some software update that didn't work as intended.

Some of those same engineers had fathers who must have done engineering for BMW, as we often wondered how they screwed up so badly.

At least now we can easily discuss our experiences with the Internet. The Internet has allowed our technical knowledge to collect and then spread out to the world.

My cell phone is also a "dumb phone" - no camera, no fancy crap, no apps. It makes and receives calls. I'd have a smart phone if they weren't so friggin' expensive. I ain't paying $100 month or more for a stupid phone, or a smart one either.

Would Mr. Money Mustache approve of pissing away $100 / month or more on a cell phone? I think not.

How did we ever survive without the internets? Sure is a good thing AlGore invented them. :D Now if he could just do something about all the damn spammers...

Nope.

My tablet does a lot of stuff but it doesn't make calls. I don't have any kind of cell phone.

Thanks Stephen! Although I am Canadian, I grew up in Sydney Australia. I see a good representation of airhead blokes on here so I'd like to also say g'day to them too. There's some great riding out in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. I remember also watching bike racing out in Bathurst, and of course the touring cars during the golden age HDT & Brock!

The 02 was the most fun car I have ever owned. I had it stripped down to about 2000 lbs so it was an absolute blast to rip around in. The handling was fantastic & still compares favourably with contemporary cars.
$10,000 is about right for a nice example. I recall an article in Forbes magazine a few years ago entitled 'The 10 best ways to invest $10,000'. A Bimmer 2002 was on the list. I sure sold mine for more than I paid!

Including what I put into it, I probably broke even. Not bad for a car I used as my daily driver! :D
The 2002 is relatively simple & cheap to maintain because it shares so many parts with the E21.

"Chrome tank sides"? Huh? Sorry, I'm not familiar with those.
Ohhh, you mean a Toaster?
