Chas, what discs are stainless steel floaters? Not the EBC ones that Abstruse and I are talking about.

Major,
You are correct, I had always thought that the EBC discs produced for our bikes were stainless, but they are not!
As an aside, what sort of stainless steel do Bmw use for their discs? I had understood that stainless steel was non magnetic, but that's not correct for Bmw discs?

Some stainless steels (ferritic) are magnetic. Others (austenitic stainless steels) are not.

Chas - I see you have a Maxton sticker on your forks - do they offer anything "bolt on " for the forks, or do you have any tips as to what they did , or how it works?

Roy,
Max tons replace the forks innards with their own. The forks are sprung according to your weight and likely load and in my case have compression and rebound adjustment.
New fork top manufactured etc etc. in other words it's not a DIY job. When they did my forks they said that the screw thread in one of the bottom of one of fork lowers was not concentric and that they had to do quite a bit of fiddling around to correct this and remove stiction,
I'm still getting used to the forks, there is a lot of adjustability!

Thanks for the reply . I know they work on most of the classic race bikes and at one time would supply a supply a bolt in kit for some, and had hoped they had a bolt in system similar to the HPN insert for the early forks.
Forlorn hope, they were asked to do an alternative to the NLA HPN insert by someone on ADV Riders , and didnt show much enthusiasm for the idea.
I think the like the forks in their hands, so they can make certain they are right.
Keep us posted on how it works out - I have just registered the R75/7 , and after a few months away the forks feel real crude compared to the other bikes.
