Looking at some RTW travellers tales, the main failure that people seem to have is fuel pump problems, when the filters get blocked, as I understand it on the 800 BMWs, the fuel filter is intregal to the pump and are only supplied as a single unit!

Or the voltage regulator being part of the alternator. Yep. That's progress for you. Not quite fuel related, but similar to the above post.

And the diode board/rectifier becoming a part of the alternator.
