Got Me One
Re: Got Me One
Ya know Grant, with the current state of dismantling you have the bike in, I'd be very tempted to ensure the steering head bearings don't need replacing. With the front end off, you have it all there ready to do.

Gidday,
Jeff: I like your thinking mate, and yes more "sign supplies" have come into the shop than normal this week.
Sibbo: The old wooden pigeon holed shelving is great, sets the mood in the shed and holds a power of stuff.
Steve: Yes, steering head bearings! I have that on the list to check and or replace soon before it goes back together.

Re: Got Me One
I struck up a conversation with a Gold Wing rider years back. He had them on his bike. His only proof that they worked was that he hadn't hit a 'roo. He was adamant they worked. Fair 'nough.Zombie Master wrote:Do they have Roo Whistles down there?

Re: Got Me One
Gidday,
Both wheels are now off and its a balancing act on the lift the rear splines look in good shape and were covered in grease which was a good sign to see, the disks are now removed from the snowflakes and they go off for a good clean to the metal polishers tomorrow who will give them a soda/bead blasting.
Many other things to clean up over the coming weekend!!

Re: Got Me One
Gidday,
I got the wheels, the front disk brakes and a re brake "thingy" back from the metal polishers today, which btw he uses hydro-blasting to get these results and not bead or soda blasting as I thoughts and they came up looking bloody wonderful and so very clean, so now the two valve covers were quickly unbolted and they went back with him for some TLC along with the rear disk brake hub.
The wheels had a layer or two of old ratty silver paint on them to btw!.. I will keep them just alloy for now!!
And a little before and after pic..

Re: Got Me One
Gidday,
Seat re-covered with the old foam given a tidy up, plus its good to remove that old crappy chequered pattern from the PO with thanks once again going to SteveD for the new cover
Thanks to Duane as I now have a couple of sets of folks coming over from the states and I also picked up a full wiring loom off a 78 RS from Ebay that had 25,000 miles on it and been in good storage, well so they say!! and the photos look good which is in a very good, non brittle condition, with postage it cost $102.00 the wiring on my RS has been played with a little to much and it basically very brittle and worn
So while these two major repair items are in flight somewhere over the waters, I am now removing the gearbox to do the tranny spline as I basically have the bike in bit and it is easy to do while I am right there, see what little surprises I find along the way.
The two valve covers are at the hydroblasters, one he dropped back last night quickly for a look which came up nice and the another will be getting a light sanding as it had a few scraps and dings on it..
Slowly getting there!!
