Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, but I need some opinions from our US and Canadian Friends.
Do any of you own the above mentioned cabinet?( it is sold by Hafco here in Australia {SB-375}) If so, dos the dust extraction unit ( mounted on the rear) work ok?
I scored an old Clemco cabinet and I am thinking of buying and retrofitting one of those units. It would be a beat and simple solution, but I want to know if it is a 'effective solution. It will cost me $400 to buy one.....
The system it came with has boxes, and hoses and an industrial vac that would be a nightmare to keep sealed and provide good service.
I'd love to know CFM figures, but that is not going to happen....lol
The only other alternative for a new unit ( that I know of) is a 60L drum with a filter inside and a motor mounted on top for $1300, from the local agents for Clemco ( Burwell).

The last sand blasting I did on the RS was riding to Wanaaring, and then down to White Cliffs.
Worked a treat, and I got pissed and met a few good blokes!

A cabinet will only be an advantage IF
you plan to do enough blasting on a regular basis to justify the need to recycle the blasting media,
or, for whatever reason, you cannot blast outside.
The cost of such a cabinet will get you a decent pressure pot,enough media to complete a number of bikes,
and more than a couple of pints at the local pub ...

Thanks Vanzen. I scored the cabinet for free, so thats not the problem. I just wanted to know if those extractors work well, so if they did, I would retro-fit one to my cabinet. They are a nice compact solution, I just don't know if they are an effective solution....

Years ago when I had the opportunity to do my media-blasting at the Daedelus Art Foundry,
I first used their box that was set up in a "room by itself".
After 20 minutes of blasting, I could not see a thing in that room,
and it was necessary to stop and wait for "visibility".
Later, the box was retro-equipped with a dust-collection system – what a difference !

Don't know about the Grizzly cartridge filtration system in particular,
but a good filtration system will be the cat's ass in any shop !
Without one, media will go everywhere and get into everything.

Many cartridge filter systems are advertised not only to keep the shop clean,
as one might expect any dust-collection system to do,
but also to keep the air free of those tiny bits that are not so good to breathe !
I suspect that the quality of the seals in the particular unit
as well as the rating of the air-filter cartridge might be determining factors governing efficiency.
