R100s 1978 - Oil light only goes off at high revs

I am thinking that it is a faulty sender. I have the correct amount of new oil in the engine. I have to rev the engine quite high to get a response from the light on the clocks. Im hoping its just the sender.

Did you recently change the oil filter?

Yes I did change it. It was working fine but today only at high revs.

if you rev it with the oil pressure light on, you're throwing the dice.
if it's truly an oil pressure problem, you can wipe out the motor.

Just to throw out the obvious question, which color light on the dash are you saying isn't going out?

It's an orange light.

then you need to install an analog oil pressure gauge to see what the actual pressure is. There are several kits on the market.

If it was fine before the filter change and it's not now, then there may be something amiss with the filter installation. I would remove it and check that you have everything in the right order and that the Large O ring is under sufficient compression. There is no need to drain the oil. If you lean the bike over on the side stand you can remove the filter with only a small loss of oil.

No I didn't change the filter and then there was a problem. I had put in a new filter and new oil and it was all working fine on one day when I ran the engine with the bike at a standstill. The next day (the bike had not been moved) the oil light did not go out when I started the bike as it had done the previous day. Nothing had changed, it is very odd. This is why I thought that maybe the pressure sender had become faulty.
