Ok Gentlemen, I have the opportunity to purchase an 04 r1150r with 34k on the clock. The bike stalls when dropped into 1st. I'm thinking its not the cable because it "easily" goes into neutral and there is tension on cable..I've done clutches on these things..lotta work but doable. The bike rolls in neutral so I'm not thinking the shaft locked up.

Welcommen.

Does the 1150r have a side stand switch? If so, is the stand down?

I thought the clutch was hydraulic? They had an issue with a clutch seal leaking from memory?

Does the bike 'Roll' when in gear with the clutch pulled? I'm guessing not.

and - yes - according to 'the book', the R1150R has a hydraulic clutch.

I'm thinking that the clutch itself is stuck... more likely if the bike has been standing for a while.

You can sometimes free the clutch by revving the bike a bit and dropping it into gear with ythe front wheel up against something suitably immovable but it isn't something I would recommend. I think that it's a clutch out job if you want to do it properly.

If your RID-fuel and temp gages go blank, it is more than likely the side stand switch. Work around is cut the 2 wires green/red and green/yellow I think. LOL been a while, and tie them together on the harness side

+1 For the sidestand switch, especially if the bike doesn't jerk forward before it dies.
