New chap with a question about scissor lifts

Hello,

I'm Jon and I'm new to this forum. I was on the now defunct BM Riders forum for many years, without which my old airhead would not have remained on the road. I only hope this forum will be as useful a resource to me.

And so to my first question: does anyone have experience of using a scissor lift with one our bikes? I'm tempted by the Sealey Mc4500, but I don't know whether the frame extensions will work, what with the sump and exhaust pipes being close to the frame.

I read somewhere that you can't lift an airhead by its sump/oil pan because it damages the gasket. I don't have the space or bank account for a proper table lift.

Any knowledge or experiences to share?

Jon

Welcome! My opinion is also to not lift the bike by the pan. I'm not so concerned about the gasket but the possibility of damage to the pan.

Can't say as I've heard of this lift. I searched this forum, the MOA forum, and ADV...no hits on lifts by Sealey.

Welcommen Jon K.

I can't advise re that lift either. I use a full lift and when it's not in use it stands up against a wall, out of the way.
