Hi all

I’ve been an absolute eejit and lost both the collars that join the two parts of the cable carrying tube that holds the front turn signals together.

Basically after 3 years of searching I have reinstated the original fairing unit. Whilst waiting for fitment I rode the bike with the indicators off in preparation for the fitting. I hadn’t tightened the inboard Allen bolt and they’ve obviously fallen off. To help, the part numbers are 46631242393 and 4.

So, two questions, has anyone got two dollars knocking around not being used ? Or if not and I need to fit new more modern turn signals in front (something I’m not averse to) what exactly do I need to do ? Will modern LED turn signals work plug and play to a standard wiring loom or do I need to fit something else ? I’m thinking something like the small motogadget ones.

Not sure what parts you are after. The numbers you quote appear to refer to the two plastic panels that fit inside the fairing on either side. I think you may mean either the clamps that attach the extensions to the indicator tubes on the headlamp bracket (31 42 1 241 969) or the extensions themselves (31 42 1 241 912). Not sure where you are based but those parts are listed by MAXBmw in the United States.

Fitting aftermarket indicators:

• Any indicators with filament bulbs of the same wattage will be plug and play... electrically anyway. Physical fitting is up to you.
• LED equipped light units may or may not require the replacement of the flasher unit... see the spec of the individual units... some are designed to work with the OEM flasher, many aren't, some require additional resistors in the circuit. If you use the ones that aren't designed for use with the original flasher, you may have to replace the rear units as well. Too many options to cover them all here...
• From what I can see, the Motogadget indicators require additional resistor units to work with a conventional flasher unit. Probably not an issue but be aware that this will take the current consumption back to where it was with filament bulbs.
