I have a long list of parts, many cosmetic, for my newly acquired 1959 R60. I need silent blocks, all the rubber pegs, grips, carb kits, light shells, gas tube (on and on). I found <http://www.ulismotorradladen.de/englisch/englisch.htm> a parts dealer in Germany. I normally buy from someone in the US but did do business with an English firm when I restored a Triumph Bonneville a few years ago to good results. Least you think I plan to avoid the US parts people I will spend many hundreds from Benchmark works, Cycle Works, Bob's etc. Ulis seems to have a good site, lots of availability, the prices (exchange in Euros) look good, ship UPS (expensive!?) and I am not in a hurry as I have 3 months before I start the work. Any one with experience with them?

I have...I needed a special side-of-transmission shift lever for my R25/2. Vech couldn't help me out, so I found Uli's had one available. Used, I believe but it looked good and fit well. It took some time, but I was generally pleased. I could typically contact them via email and got reasoable responses in English.

I order once or twice a year from Ulis. Most of their parts are aftermarket, but good quality. After all there is little OE BMW parts left for classic era bikes, and you pay very dearly for it.

Econo shipping will be USPS which takes 2 to 3 weeks.

Also check out Mark Huggett http://www.bmwbike.com/ . He has worked closely with BMW to create the motorcycle side of BMW Mobil Traditions. His prices are a bit higher, depending on the exchage rate of the day.

My regular go-to people in Germany is S. Meyer. Very friendly with the U.S. Good response time on email. Right now I am waiting on my tax refund to do business with them.

I have an order pending from MotoBins. I don't have the parts yet, which is ok, but the charge $101 has shown up twice on my Credit card. It remains to be seen how they deal with it.

On another, non-BMW forum I am on, I mentioned buying something from David Silver Spares in England.
A respondent lamented calling them on the phone (from the U.S.) to place an order, and it cost him $250 on his phone bill!

I wouldn't worry, Brad. Motobins is a good company. It is most likely just the banks processing the payment.
Unless you hit the "Back" key while submitting your order. NEVER do that!
