I'm sure the "purists" will scoff at this  but I just installed a set of Hoske sport mufflers on my 63 R60/2 and removed the baffles. I absolutely love the sound!! My question is do I need to rejet my carbs or just adjust them if so any tricks or tips? Any thoughts?

Mate who cares what the purists think. She sounds so good. I would love to ride for miles behind you just to hear her song.

LOL...sounds great, but would be too loud for I think...
I guess, take it for a ride and do a plug test and see if it needs re-jetting.

I installed a set of Hoske's on my R100/6 and they sounded great! I ran em like that for a couple of weeks and then tried running the bike without the baffles. Man-o-man that sucker was LOUD!

Never tried that stunt again..!

Have some respect for those that share earth with you. If you wish to hear the noise, just rig up some type of earphone system that amplifys your existing exhaust, but the rest of the world doesn't have to suffer. That way both you and the world can get what is needed.

Duane is right here. We are doing all of motorcycling a disservice by making our bikes so loud. "The Simpson's" did a very funny show on loud and rude biking. It casts us in a bad light. Loud is seen a compensation for something we are missing in our character. I gotta say it sounds great at the track or when it first starts in the garage but it is not considerate otherwise. I'll bet the Hoske's sound great with the baffles in and are quiet enough to fall under the radar of most of the public but give the bike a great growl.

I believe you have confused The Simpsons, a mildly amusing very long running TV show, with South Park, a show that is far more socially critical.

You are so right. I really do not have TV so a friend sent me the recording of South Park. I had to laugh at the whole thing but that show is CRUDE! I have never seen "The Simpsons" nor any other "South Park" so I probably shouldn't be commenting on TV. I do however stand by my comments concerning the noise.

I don't mind loud bikes, I just don't care for riders who feel the need to be obnoxious with them. I'm currently running Hoske replicas without baffles and both myself and my bike love them. After running stock cigars for years, and numerous close calls with people who claimed they didn't hear or see me, I decided louder might be better for me. I ride almost everyday sharing the road with drivers who are unfamiliar with the cars they are operating and the roads they are driving on. For me, loud pipes have been almost as important as having good brakes!

You don't need to dislike loud bike, or any other engines, such as private airplanes. I am a pilot too and hate the noise.

You only need to accept that some people don't want noise forced into their life. It is just common consideration.

Why do some have to attract attention in imposing ways to feel manly? Grow a pair of your own.
