High school. Had to replace the motor with one from a junk yard. Tight spaces, but we got it done.

The point may have been missed. He said he likes cranking down the window. So do I. I even find it interesting how the engineers designed the cranking ratio which is different on cars of varying manufacture.

I'm under the impression that generally, power windows have become much more reliable over the years. I do understand that there were a couple generations of VW Jettas, Golfs, etc. that had big problems with their power windows and also with their air conditioner.

My VW doesn't have power windows. But then, my VW doesn't have power in general.

My biggest reason for choosing a car with power windows is it allows me to adjust all 4 from the driver's seat.
I don't know about 2-door cars, but on a sedan if you only have the front window open there is a lot of turbulence at speed. This is virtually eliminated by opening the window behind it.

My truck has vent windows. Manual vent windows that control turbulence. Using your power windows wastes gas. I think you're just spoiled.

Mine fuckin' whistle good at 60 mph.
I pay the passenger side vent window locking mechanism a two dollar coin and it stops whistling.
The passenger side vent window locking mechanism pays the kids $2 every time they open the vent window.
It never ends. (although it's not bad at the moment being the middle of winter)

Speakin' of gas, those vents sure are good fartin' winderz.
