What would be an interesting bike?

Not a basket case but something that could resurrected and become an enjoyable ride.
Not a BMW - I have my R100 so BTDT.
NOT a Harley-Davidson although an Aermacchi might be interesting (probably not).
There are lots of British bikes that are really nice but I am sure they would be constantly pissing me off and driving me nuts.
Dare I say it? Japanese?

Japanese? Hell yeah.

Way ahead of you Rob -
Had one for a few years. Fun bike.

And it was 29 degrees C here today. Too hot to go for a ride.

I'd go with the Aermacchi then. Looks cool!

Forget looking cool. And forget a friggin' scooter fer Christ's sake. Grown men in Italy don't wear shorts! What Rob needs is a Yamaha Exciter 250. A proper motorcycle, frame and all, reliable, simple to maintain, and with just a few simple changes, will do all you need.

Uh...we are talking about a bike for Dougie, here?
I've already decided to trade up to a bicycle whenever I can sell my R65 (as pieces or as a whole, I don't care).

Yamaha SR/XT 500 singles are reliable and reasonably priced and parts are available.

Oooh, yeah. For me, maybe a 250/350 Alpina, for cow-trailing, like the old days.
