Odyssey Install

Bike is a '76 R90/6. I have searched thru previous posts and I am seeing people using Odyssey batteries in their airheads. I'm looking at the PC925L model. Does it require any serious mods to make it work? Will the original cables work with the optional pole adapter kit? TIA

Assuming that the battery tray is identical to an '80 RS, there should be no problems. In my case the battery cables could bend enough to allow connection without adapter. It's quite a bit smaller than the original, so mine is secured with a few large zip-ties.

The 925L is a little taller than a stock battery. It is about half inch narrower than the battery box. Wooden spacers can easily center the battery in the tray.

I dropped a PC925 into mine and it went in easier than the factory-by-gawd BMW lead acid unit came out. My cables could be bent enough to fit, but having been in the same position for 30-odd years, they were reluctant, but complied with a little persuasion. There is a pair of "L" connectors (Is this the pole adapter kit?) that the distributor gave to me (my natural charm is totally awesome), but I've also seen for sale that make subsequent installations (we have winter here) even easier.

I pulled the trigger on the Odyssey. The salesman also threw in the adapter pieces. Install was a piece o cake and I didn't have to remove the air filter assembly! Thanks

I have that model installed in my 77RS and did not use the adapters. A straight bolt-in.
