Why are the springs on the center stand jumping off all the time? Very annoying, I find myself using the sidestand most of the time and smoking off the neigbourhood..
The springs are fairly new, say 4 yrs. Is there any tricks on this? Maybe I ought to have a closer look at bushings and so on this winter (creeping up on me now, snow soon to come,NO, NO NO!!)

Stock centerstand? Where did you buy the springs? Any pictures of the spring attachments to the stand/frame? There should be sufficient tension on the springs to keep them secure all the time. Sounds like the springs are worn out, wrong size, or attached wrong.

Wrong springs would be my first guess.

NOW...I have mine safety wired where they connect to the frame at the swingarm.
Lost too many to count. Wrong spring, OEM spring...they ALL jump off.
Some of my OEM springs snapped just at the hook where they go onto the center stand.

Another thought, are they mounted correctly? The coiled end of the spring goes forward to frame and the straight wire bit towards the center stand. There is a clearance requirement where the straight wire part goes between frame and engine when the center stand is up. I think too, if the spring is mounted so it hooks "up" you will gain clearance in the critical areas, but I have them both ways on my R75/5, with no springs losses yet.

Stock stand, springs form Motobins or motorworks can't remember. I had them installed borh ways I think. Now I noticed one of them had snapped, so I'll order new ones form motobins. Have you got a pricture of the safetywiring, Jean? So I get an idea on howto..

Yep, there you go. See how the spring end is toward the front and the hook on the other end goes under the pin:

they can snap over time (usually at the tabs on the center stand) but they don't all jump off. R90s and R75/5 with 130k and 170k respectively and never lost a spring. Fut a few have snapped, allowing the centerstand to drag at 70mph

I think it might matter which way you put them, the opening up or down. Must say I tried both with the same luck. would guess opening on the upside to be wise even thou it looks different here:
