A beautiful job of restoration.

It should start with one hand on the first attempt, not the third. One gets a better spin by turning the hand 180 Degrees and allow it to slip off as it hits the stop.

The sticker on the rear tire tends to indicate that the bike hasn't yet been ridden.

The timing gears are the wrong set, as they are whining due to the interference.

Checking for carb balance is done by ear, not the feel by hand of the exhaust. The ear is many times more accurate.

When he buys me an air ticket I will go and coach him on this stuff. He obviously cares.

Why are there keys hanging from the seat?

I don't really know, but I suspect that they might be the two keys that one gets when buying a new lock set for the fork lock and tank lock.
