Hi-res images of R100RS rear disc brake setup needed

I could need some nice hi-res images of the mounting points for the various components of the rear disc brake, reservoir, master cyclinder, caliper etc. I know there are two major brackets, one for the caliper mount and one for the master cyclinder. The brake pedal is the same, apparently. So it should be quite simple and painless.

I made a d(st)eal on a complete disc rear end including wheel and FD and want to use it on a 08/1982 R100. As per ETC and RealOEM, the frames appear to be the same for CS/RS/RT and nekkid R100 (and a couple of other 6's and 7's). Just wanna make sure I don't miss anything else.

Shoot me a PM and I'll get you my email address ... unless you already have it.

Thanks in advance, Stephen

I can get some pictures later today...

The M/C attaches to a small bracket...the bracket, in turn, attaches to the frame. Yes, same brake pedal...remove the clip holding the long pull-rod and clip it to the M/C.

The caliper mounts on a plate that also acts as a spacer between the (rider's) left side of the wheel and the shoulder of the axle. The plate is kept from rotating by a strut that attaches to a small tab on the underside of the swingarm.

So...make sure you get the rear axle. Make sure your swingarm has the bracket on the underneath side. And, make sure you get the metal plate/bracket that the M/C attaches to...the rest just falls into place...mostly.

There were "early" wheels and "late" wheels...the changeover being 1981. IIRC, the late wheels are backward compatible, but the early wheels require minor modifications to work with the later (square) FD.

Stephen if you require some pix I can get some for you tomorrow (Fri) of my rear disc set up on my 82 RS. Let me know.

I have a 81 R100 with rear drum brakes and, in comparison to the rear disc on the RS, I don't notice any greater stopping power between the two. Just my opinion by seat of the pants.

Pics tomorrow or on the weekend is fine. I really only bought the setup because all splines were nearly new and it was such a good deal. I'll make them work. I think, key is to use them regularly then they will stop. Get a softer pads and you have a screamer.

What pictures do you want? Just all sides etc.?

I will try and get some from my 84 R100RS tonight if you wish and can tell me what angles you want to see.

Marc. just all sides with a good lighting, mounting points etc. I need to assess if the 1983 R100 has all necessary bracketry to accommodate a rear disc brake wheel. The more pictures I get the better my assessment. Hi-res not a problem, I'll PM my email address. Thanks, Stephen

You'll need a different axle for the disc Stephen.
