I'm in the process of rebuilding my R60 engine. I have the Ed Korn videos and the Barrington restoration manual. I'm to the part of installing the magneto. The video says to turn the flywheel to the OT mark and the manual says the S mark. Which is correct?

Setting the magneto and the ignition timing are all done using the S-mark as the reference. Note, however, that the adjustments to set each are independent of each other. In other words, set the magneto timing and NEVER use adjustments of the magneto to set the ignition timing!

See those two holes on either side of the magneto? They are elongated so that they can be adjusted. However, that is misleading, as they should never be adjusted. Park the mag in the center and forget any adjustment. After that, only rotate the points plate and adjust the points gap.
Once set up, the mag should be nearly trouble free. From time to time check the gap and reset it back to .016" or .4 mm. Same thing.
The points on your magneto will outlast the crankshaft.
This is a supberb system, so learn to work with it and life will be easy.

But the rubbing block on the points might not!! Keep an eye on that and be sure there's some lubricant for the points rubbing block.
