Just a "Hello" from a once-frequent visitor and poster. We've got our first cold spell going here in the SF Bay area (I know, not THAT cold) so it is time to line up some projects for the winter.

It also occurs to me that I don't think I logged in to say "Hi and I'm back from my retirement ride."

Anyway, I got back just one week shy of two months on the road on August 13th after covering 10,000 miles riding around the USA in a mostly clockwise direction. It was terrific ... just what I needed to ease into retirement. I blogged about the trip most days I was on the road, making do with just an iPad on this trip. My $500.00 "parts bike" was trouble free except for a bit of fuel tank venting that only perplexed me in the continuous 100 degree plus weather of the South. I did replace both tires on the trip - both with Battlax BT-45s that I've grown quite fond of.

Good to see some familiar names on the forum here.

I'm fond of the BT-45's too. V-rated, or the softer lower rated ones?
(that's softer sidewall, not compound)

Yes, one more vote for that museum, it is the best that I have seen, by far.

You must be a train buff...steamers I would think!

We just spent 4 days aboard a VIA Rail train (passenger) from Vancouver to Toronto..through the Canadian Rockies etc...really a wonderful trip. Service was supurb as was the food and accommodation (a sleeper cabinette...very cool). What a great way to travel. We can't wait to do it again!

Most of the passengers were from the USA and Europe so led to some interesting conversations to say the least.
