Quick speedometer question!

Post by 72R75 »

Ok I just got my bike back from getting the forks resealed and ordered some progressive air shocks for it. I need to send my speedometer off to get rebuilt/repaired. I was wondering, Will the bike still run and function without the speedometer installed? I have a handle bar clip for my I phone and I will use that for my speed until I get mine back.
thanks,
Jr

The bike will run, but it will not charge without the generator light in the circuit.

You can rig a jumper with a small resistor and then all will be well. You just need the schematic to identify the correct wires to jump. Apparently a 330 ohm 1 watt resistor is appropriate.

Motorrad Elektrik has a little kit:

I used exactly that . It works.
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.
