Just finished rebuilding my calipers on my 82R100. One of my cables is buggered and I need to replace. What are my choices for rubber hose? (OEM or aftermarket). For now I just want to replace the two front hoses from the splitter.

For rubber hose try Motobins.co.uk
They'll be cheaper than stainless lines and will probably perform just as well, being new.

Or, at least, nearly. Certainly better than soft 30 year-old hoses.

Just remember to change them in another 20 years.

Spiegler is sold by many US shops. I think Tom Cutter-Rubber Chicken Racing- carries them. Also Capital has another brand. I put them on my R100 during the brake rebuild.
Also the price for stainless may be less than BMW rubber.

Happens I just looked into this for my '82 R100. Spiegler stainless IS cheaper than BMW rubber.

My stainless lines are 25 years old. Do I need to change them?

What is under the SS? If' it's rubber it will break down and cause problems.
Interesting question.

My oem rubber lines were at least 25 years old when I replaced them. I did use stainless, but bought the rubber ones when I thought that the SS ones might provide compliance issues here in Oz. Eventually, I decided to ignore that. I bought Venhill lines from the UK and they're fine.
I can't find the rubber ones on Motobins site today. That might say that everyone goes to stainless as replacement. Makes sense.
The Motobins lower rubber hoses were cheaper than BMW rubber hoses and also cheaper than stainless.
I have a new and unused pair of the Motobins hoses for the 81- 84 R100. OZ$35 + post...if anyone is interested.
