Nicely done indeed, Dougie. I would love to have that lovely bike for my very own. How proud I would be!
Of course I would need to change a couple things. First, the low bars just don't work for me. I really need the USA bars. Also I sometimes need to carry things, so some saddlebags would come in real handy. And sitting as tall and wide as I do in the saddle, a bit of wind protection would be in order. Perhaps a period correct fairing? And I occasionally carry a passenger so a King and Queen saddle would make long trips very comfy for both of us.
Of course I realize that some of those changes might require a little more power to keep up with modern traffic. So I'm thinking bigger jugs and pistons might do the trick, pumping the displacement up to 900cc. I'd also want to install some Del Orto carbs to handle the heavier breathing needed. Oh, and maybe a tad bit higher speed final drive to keep the R's down on the interstate.
Man, I love those classic Beemers!

Sweat, that's my bike exactly, except mines a '73 long wheel base.

I couldn't help it, I had to fix the subject to reflect the actual bike. For us collectors, the nomenclature R75 is an actual BMW from WWII. Every time I see it without the /5, I wonder what it really is.
Wow, it is a nice bike. The mods are very minor and certainly improve it for the type of riding that I did.
The last photo shows a rear view. Notice that the fender is off to one side? They came that way from BMW. We fixed a few, but it take hogging out the mounting holes a bit and then holding it to the other side while tightening the fasteners.
The /2 also came with the fender off to one side.
I can really see that Ken loves the classic look.

Must be my personality. I can't remember ever appreciating restos like this. Just kind of rubs it in my face that my bikes will never get close to this again.
