I"ve seen a lot of our members with action cameras mounted in different places. Can anyone recommend a helmet mount that is secure?

It depends on which camera you are using. My Drift came with a mount that matches the curve of my helmet. It uses adhesive velcro strips and is very secure. The smaller, sticky tape mounts provided worked in the short haul, but failed over time. The headband elastic strap was a joke. The position required for my helmet put it directly over my field of view... Do you want pictures?

any photos are greatly appreciated. I would think that some mounts are better than others. I figured that the camera is screwed to the mount much the same as a on a tripod, it's the idea of a failure of the sticky tape that makes me nervous.

Here you go: Note: I like this camera because it's more "aerodynamic" than the GoPro, but the downside is you can't easily mount it to the front of a helmet or on your chest. The sticky tape mounts are only as big as the square bit in the middle of the strap mount. There are newer, smaller versions of the Drift available now, with replaceable lenses, and time lapse functions the first model didn't have. My gopro hasn't fallen off, it's mounted with a curved stick on base in front of my mouth.
I check the mount every so often and it's solid.

I like the camera in the middle of the helmet because it gives the best perspective, imo.
A gopro up on top of the helmet looks rather dorky. If there's no bike in the picture, what's the point.
I've seen footage from someone using a chest mount on a naked bike and it's good perspective too.

As helmets are different, the ability to mount the camera also varies.

Question is, do you find the best camera or the best mount, and will the best mount fit the helmet.

No helmet mount for me, and you'll thank me. There's a lot of "Hey, what's that?" in my riding.

I've been mounting it to the left handlebar, both above (preferred viewpoint) and below. I also have a suction cup that would probably hold it on the tank, but I'd worry about the constabulary or Muriel observing the clocks and rushing to judgment.
