I'm seeing lots of posts for the Alpha bean can ignition system but I can't find any user feedback on the Alpha "Classic' digital ignition system for the 70-78 bikes.

No good for me! I need a crank triggered version for my /7 as the previous butcher, I mean owner, broke the thread off the camshaft and welded the advance assy to the end of the camshaft.
Unless some one here knows where I can find a new or good condition r100/7 cam.

Welded the advance assy to the end of the camshaft? There is a much better fix for that.
I had the thread break off of my old /7 as well. I ended up tapping into the camshaft and using a screw with a washer to hold the advance assembly in place.
Enduralast might be one of your solutions for mounting ignition onto the crank.

That would have been much better. like I said butcher not enthusiast.
I have seen crank triggered ignition systems but they took the place of the alternator - racing use only.

Why don't you use Google for this kind of issue, as the answer is almost always there. Save time and go directly.

Duane, please do not direct our single weekly mechanical question to other sites.
Otherwise, we may as well pack up and go home.

There are alternator mounted ignitions from Sachse and Silent Hektik. The Sachse ignition uses a light beam trigger, the SH uses a Hall effect trigger. Both ignitions have a variety of ignition maps to help any dual plugged bikes out there.
Sachse are just coming back into production after the owner of the company was killed in a bike accident. Of the two, I prefer the Sachse unit.

It seems that my thread got hijacked.
This wasn't to be a discussion about a broken cam or Crank mounted ignitions.
This is about feedback regarding the Alpha Ignitions. I googled it. I searched other forums. There is only minimal feedback regarding their bean-can ignition. Nothing I can find regarding the earlier style ignition system.

You are a wise man ME 109. Nature abhors a vacuum, and there are way too few technical questions to occupy the minds and intelligence of all of our technically minded people here. We are hungry for technical challenges, but those haven't been forthcoming. So we must do something to fill the vacuum that we all abhor. (That or join a Harley forum).
It is a far better thing we do by degrading until a question comes along that we can sink our technical teeth into.
So Duane, will you kindly knock it off buster?
Ken

Welcome to Boxerworks!
And to answer your question, I have no experience with the Alpha ignition. Heck, even Snowbum doesn't talk about it!
