Why would that work? The volume of the brake hydraulic system doesn't vary with suspension motion.

Or maybe, like one of those fuel mileage improvers, it magnetizes the brake fluid, making it flow more smoothly, thus preventing sudden pressure variations that cause wheel lock-up . . . send me $19.95 by check, cash, or money order (or better yet, just send your credit card info) and I'll send you my complete analysis. The last thing you really want to do is add more hydraulic connections to your braking systems. BTW...I thought the Airhead front brake was already ABS??

This device was a spring loaded plunger designed to absorb some of the energy of the front brake hydraulic line and thus help prevent inadvertent lockup. Does it work? Well, yes, if the spring is the right strength, it will help prevent inadvertent lockup. The problem is that this presumes a problem that does not exist. I vaguely remember when those ads where in the back of magazines. Didn't do Craig Vetter's rep any favors for the ad to be right next to one of his - implying an equality between products.

I'm pretty sure the spring would have to be air, since the pressures in a hydraulic line are way too high to be controlled by a little metal spring. So, it's basically a way to introduce a controlled amount of air into the line, and making the line more spongy and increasing the travel of the lever. If the makers actually sold any significant number of the devices, It's quite likely they contributed to a few deaths.

You don't realize how huge the thing is until you look at the photo in the old ad.

They still make a similar device or did until recently. This one was tested and big surprise it didn't work.
