When things go wrong

Post by Justdan »

We have all had that feeling, in the pit of your stomach. You are thousands of kilometres away from home. In a strange place an not knowing anybody and you motorcycle breaks down. An complete stranger (me ) steps in an lends a hand. Terry and Gayl’s BMW alternator broke on their R100Rt mono and I had a spare 2nd hand one lying around the garage.

We spent yesterday afternoon fixing Terry’s bike and minor service while we had the bike up on the stand. Terry and Gayl can continue on with there holiday in Tasmania and ride back to Bundaberg QLD. Happy travels :D

Terry having fun in learning how to refit a Diode board.

One little thing I did learn yesterday. With the standard BM diode board. The two brown earthing wires have to be on the top mounts of the diode board. if you put them on the bottom mounts. The red charge light will not work and the diode does not get excited.

Justdan, are you sure about that? I do know that Diane gets excited when men talk about bottom mounts.

I was scratching my head for an hour or so. I had the earth wires on the bottom mounts and the charge light would not come on whith the ignition switched on . Moved them to the top and the charge light came on.

Atta boy Dan, good to hear that everything turned out well in the end and you've probably gained some new, 2 wheel friends.

The favour will be returned one day!
