Hey Folks.

What would be the best adhesive to mount rubber pads to the gas tank?

I'd consider Permatex Super Weatherstrip Adhesive.

I concur. Good stuff. Often called 'gorilla snot.'

this experience is what I remember from my days and things are probably different today.

Just make sure that you allow it to really dry before installing it. We soon learned to ignore the directions that came with the product. The "snot" must be dry, no tacky touchy at all. I think that we let it dry over night before using it. You would swear that it won't stick, but stick it did and really well too.

On the knee pads of yesteryear, we had to sand them a bit to get the gorilla snot to stick. That snot will glue a pad on so well that a pad will tear when pulling it off.

Acetone? MEK? Not sure if these attack paint.

Hi Kurt, Mailing stuff to you before I departed was on my list. That is just one of the things that I failed to actually accomplish.

You are in my long list for reports. I will be sending one out in a few hours.
