2 part question-Monoshock airhead tires

1. What Metzler tires work best with these bikes? The rear Metz. on my bike is NLA.
2. Do all modern cycle shops have the ability to change tire on rear wheel and balance assembly (flange mount ,no bearings) without inflicting damage

The Metzeler Lasertec is still available in 120/90-18. I think their new Sportec Klassik is, too. I'd go with Michelin Pilot Activs, instead. A BMW dealer should have no problem doing the tire change; they handle single-sided rear wheels all the time.

I see that size in S.R. V everywhere.But for some reason,not H to match front lasertec .60 miles away from nearest BMW shop.

The speed rating doesn't affect fit---it's just how sticky/how soon it'll wear out. V-rated tires are stickier than H-rated tires, and the manufacturers don't always/often offer a particular tire size/tread pattern in two speed ratings. A slow-riding skeptic, like me, tends to think that the V-rated tires are the only available offering when the manufacturer wants you to fork over cash to them more frequently for new tires; others, with a more benign perspective, probably think that the manufacturers are just really concerned for maximizing rider control and safety at the higher speeds that are common for 30-40yr. old machines . . . pick the glasses tint you prefer.

The local shop with a set of healthy tire irons should be able to get them on if their tire mounting machine won't work. A dealer only 60 miles away is typical for lots of us---make the trip if they're reasonably happy to see your old bike.
