Airhead fork length

Post by foghell »

Hi

This is my first post here, just registered to this fine forum :)

I am looking to buy an airhead, probably the R75/6. I going to do a fork conversion on the bike as it will be totally rebuilt and customized. Sacrilege to some I´m sure, but it will be built for show and to promote my business.

So my question for you guys is, does anyone know the length of the front forks on the airheads? Searched high and low, but can´t find any info about this. This measurement will help me determine what front end to buy, in order to get the right stance of the bike when finished.

Really appreciate the help!

If built for "show", what does it matter?

it matters because even though I'm planning to take it to bike shows, I'm still gonna ride it.

Welcome foghell,

If you want the lowdown on fork conversion, go to ADVrider, airhead forum.

Please don't buy a nice original machine and destroy it. There are better candidates for a full custom job, and you'll get heaps more help from the most knowledgeable airhead people on the net.

Thanks, I will check it out!

I won't, the nice ones are too expensive to "destroy":-)

So do you want the length of the fork tube? #5?

Thank you for your reply. Ideally I would like the length from the top triple tree to the axle during normal load. Maybe it's just easier to buy the bike first and then decide on the new front end.
