The numbers are dropping

We only had 4 riders to front up for the last get together at Guyra. How can we get more participants onto the forum so we can have more riders to participate in the rides to somewhere? I'm going to contact the local BMW dealer in Ballina, NSW to try and get more people on the forum. I'll also contact Morgan and Wacker, or is that Wanker, in Brisbane Qld. to see if we can scare up some more riders.

There are quite a few OZ riders over on the R65 forum. Feel free to sign up and spread your love!

An old workmate of mine, Max Enklaar who rides Airheads and lives in Ballina is a great contact. He is retired from work now but is a bit of a legend in those parts. Souped up his old Airheads and made them go really fast. Also rides a Triumph Tiger. I don't know his number but ask the local Ballina BMW dealer. They may know.

Sorry I didn't make it to Guyra mate. Extenuating circumstances.

Steve

Pressgang - as in naval recruiting of old. Get out on the streets with a belaying pin. Imagine some innocent passer-by waking up at an Oz Boxerworks rally, being passed a cold beer and a joint and being regaled with entertaining bullshit stories about past rides. He/she would almost certainly want to go out and buy an airhead after that.

Seriously, I've done some recruiting. I used to have some Boxerworks stickers (courtesy of Grant) to hand out whenever I met up with a suitable candidate. I've only got one left now. You there, Grant?

Maybe it's time to start thinking about a mid NSW event. I reckon the only way to get those slack bastards from Dubbo along is to have a gathering somewhere near Dubbo. (er, grin. Sorry Steve; I do understand the circumstances.)

Actually, a business card might be more useful. Something with a simple statement about the usefulness of Boxerworks, including the web address, that can be shoved into a wallet.

I did send emails to the 2 dealers and received ZIPPPPPPPPPPP. I find that the shops don't want to know about you unless your bike is 5 years old or younger. I ride whenever I can and always offer assistance to Brand X bikes that seem in distress. Progress is slow in finding other airheads but it is progress never the less.

Over the last few weeks, Ive come across 2 other "airheads around here.... Same sequence each time..
" rode my bike in today"..
"do you ride a motorbike?"
"yea"
What have you got?
"an '84 R65!.... what about you?
"ah.. an R90 ... "
And then we dissolve into a kind of misty eyed trance, imagining the thrumming of the staintunes.... and the wind in the hair..
There are more of us around thna you think!... so I'll do a bit of recruiting.
The amazing thing is ( well maybe not so amazing when you think about it!) is that they have all been good blokes.. warm intelligent blokes passionate about thier interests, maybe a tad romantic, all 50-60ish, going on 25!!
We shall not grow old!.. we shall age disgracefully, embarrassing our kids at every oppertunity showing 'em what real living can be!!!

Now after that little trip, it's time to mow the #@..ing grass!!
