I am a hater of the Dyna ignition. About 6 years or so ago I installed one in my '77 R100. Never again! It left me stranded after only about 10 hours of use along the Talimena Scenic drive. I like points. They do require maintenance. They don't leave you stranded very often.

Re: No Clutch
You might want to put the pin in from the top so the pin won't fall out if the keeper goes missing again. My own approach has been to use a long enough metric sized bolt instead of the pin. With a nylock nut holding the bolt(pin) in place, a person won't have to worry about the previous pin coming ...

So, GSPD, have you found a girlfriend yet who isn't crazy? As I recall they seemed to be in short supply.

Re: rubber boots
I learned a lesson about fork boots; don't buy 'em unless you're sure of their quality. I bought a couple of boots from some purveyor of airhead parts, automatically expecting them to be OEM, or at least OEM quality. Upon receiving the boots I saw that they were marked as made in Italy. Did I want t...

Re: Painting and pinstripe
That color is a yummy yellow, indeed. The paint also looks to have a nice clear-coat overlay. I'm also wondering if there is some metallic in the paint or under the clear coat. Still the 'flying blood clot' color is on top of my hit parade. A few years ago Justin Bowser (of R65 forum fame) painted u...

Re: R75/5 choke stopped working
Ahhh, thanks. I haven't taken these carbs off the bike yet, so had no idea what the reverse side looked like. I don't know if I'll have time to get to it tonight, but I'll post an update when I know more. Thanks again everyone! Mike I don't have any specific advice for you, but I would like to ampl...

General Caution re: Fork Gaiters
It's been a few years now since I've replaced some fork gaiters on my /6 and /7 vintage bikes. I bought them online from a BMW parts supplier whose name I've now forgotten. The gaiters read 'Italy' on them. I installed 'em. No big deal. Fit fine, worked fine. Very soon (probably months) I noticed th...

Re: Wheel building.
Ken, the Buchanan's spoke wrenches are the bomb! They have it down! When you buy spokes from them is the time to buy the wrench. Hi Chuey. What you say sounds right and true. Good advice. Uh, but it doesn't work for me. You see, I have a quirk. Well, multiple quirks, but this is the one I'm talking...
