Re: Niceley done R75
Must be my personality. I can't remember ever appreciating restos like this. Just kind of rubs it in my face that my bikes will never get close to this again.

Re: R80/7 Piston, rings and bore measurement
The rings just need to be staggered so the gaps line up. I don't think they stay where you line them up when you assemble the bike. Are you sure that the tiny bit of oil you see is not anti-sieze? The exhaust gets so hot, I can't imagine liquid oil sticking around for long. The finned nuts do get st...

Re: Modifying R90/6 front forks
On a side note, if the fork is leaking at the bottom, is the copper washer the only thing that seals it? My '71 was not forking right and I found that most of the oil leaked out of one leg. I added some and it leaked out again.

Re: So this is where all the airhead action is!
I was actually referring to a car: the Bimmer 2002 series 2-door which was the pre-cursor to the 3-series and was also available in Polaris silver... :geek: I always wanted one of those. I was looking several years ago and was surprised how much decent ones go for. I think it was around ten grand f...

Re: So this is where all the airhead action is!
Well, I have an actual question for you about your bike. It looks like it's missing pin stripes, so I assume it is a respray. Did your original silver paint go to shit? I have a '73 in polaris silver and the paint looks terrible. I have been putting off repainting because the bike doesn't have a den...

Re: jointed filters
Is it getting to be a pain in the arse to get filters? Last time I was at RePsycle they didn't have oil filters in stock. Now I am being told by various outlets that straight filters are no longer being produced. I used to be able to go to a couple counters in town if I needed something like that. Y...

Re: Ethanol Free Gas in your area
I gave up on good gas long ago. I used to insist on going to pumps that had 3 hoses so I didn't get a gallon of crap gas. I used to go to sunoco because they had 94 instead of 93. I'm over it. Once gas got to $3/gal the romance was over. I am going to retard the timing on my 71 R75/5 and see if I ca...

Re: New tires - no more head shaking!!!
Funny, I thought my wobble probles was from a worn front. It's easy to see when your rear tire is worn. But my front tends to cup for whatever reason and it usually looks fine - it just handles like crap. That causes a detectable wobble for me. I have a pretty old front tire right now and I am feeli...
