To clean or not to clean
I have these prettified forks that I rebuilt a few months ago in preparation for a swap out to my 1970 /5. 2016-10-10 09.56.33.jpg The question is what to do with the replaced forks? I want to keep them. If I clean and rebuild I have a place to store them on the wall. Just wouldnt look right with di...

Re: Right side foot peg
These are the stock. The longer one is the right side.
They can be switched which would make it difficult to depress the brake.

Re: Transmission part id
Well, I tore into and it was the washer in the shift springs. Which had to be part of the very last pieces removed and had to be one of the first to go in. Got it all apart and put back together. Just need to put it back on the bike.

Re: Transmission part id
I see there is a nice wear mark on the face, does the diameter of that mark give you any clues as to where it goes. That gap by the output flange looks pretty promising if it matches that item. The wear marks didn't match the location but I still put it there. OOPS Tsa, here are those spacers I thi...

Transmission part id
I recently rebuilt a 4 speed tranny from a 72 r60/5. There was one piece leftover. One of those things I couldn't reimagine but I know it came from the start of the parts removal. Therefore it would be one of last pieces to put on. 2016-09-17 08.48.22.jpg When I look at the parts fiche it shows some...

Re: Differential specifications
Thanks for the backlash figures. I was guessing .001 was not enough. The commpression ring will need to be replaced. The rings thickness is 2.29 mm so I would guess that the 2.3 thickness will work or atleast give me more backlash. I'll bet there is a formula you could calculate the the proper thick...

Differential specifications
I have a 1972 r60/5 differential taken apart and cleaned up. I have measured the backlash but can't find any tolerances. Is there a correct method to measure? What about that shim thing. I measured the gap and the shim i have is too big. I know I can get a different size but certainly not the entire...
