No spark either side - R100 1982

Hey guys, Incredibly strange but the other day I came home from dropping the girlfriend off and the bike just wouldn't start. Tested the plugs and I've got no spark on either side. I swapped out the ignition coils with new ones to test, and they're fine, so it's something higher up. New plugs put in...

Oil smoke on start

Hey guys, I've got blue-white smoke coming from both my pipes (particularly from the side that the bike is leaned over onto its kickstand on) and from underneath the engine whenever the bike has been parked for more than a half hour (aprox.). Mornings it will pump the stuff out for about a minute, a...

Fixed by cleaning the jets.

Anyone want to buy a pair of brand spankin new coils (still in the box)? $200 USD.

I am not 100% sure it's chrome. I do know that the pipes that are on there on from the past owner and new.

Repolishing hazed chrome

Hey guys,

Details question now. I made the stupid mistake of using a green carbon scrubby to clean off some rust on my exhaust pipes. It's left a pretty big white haze on the finish that can't seem to be polished out. Anyone have any ideas for cleaning it up?

Re: 82 R100 - Keeps dying after running-out-of-gas

Sounds like a blockage in one of the carb circuits on the side not firing. Possibly some crud got pulled in when you ran out of gas. It doesn't take much to clog the idle/slow running circuit. http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z286/ldwphotos/CV_Carb_Diagram.gif Thanks Dougie. Suggestions on where ...

Re: 82 R100 - Keeps dying after running-out-of-gas

Check: Fuel tank, petcocks, petcock screens, petcock tubes, fuel lines, and float-bowls for rust, crud, debris, or bits of that red fuel tank sealer that has come loose from the inside of the tank. The least little speck of any of these or anything in the fuel delivery system will disrupt fuel mete...

82 R100 - Keeps dying after running-out-of-gas

Hey everybody, First time posting on Boxerworks. I was quite active on the K-Bike forums over at the k11og group but sold my K about a year ago (good riddance!). Have had BMWs for three years now. Love my 1982 R100 and if I had all of the money in the world, I'd probably just buy a cleaner one. Abou...

Bike won't shift - Thwarting romance with a 82 BMW R100

Hey guys. Well. My first post is a disgruntled one. You see, I was supposed to pick a girl up on Thursday from a place about 4 hours from where I am. I can't do it now, and it looks like I won't get to her before she has to go back to work. Unless I fix the bike, or find some other means, I won't 'g...
