Hey guys,
I've got blue-white smoke coming from both my pipes (particularly from the side that the bike is leaned over onto its kickstand on) and from underneath the engine whenever the bike has been parked for more than a half hour (aprox.). Mornings it will pump the stuff out for about a minute, after work it'll pump it out for 30 seconds or so. A whole gust of it comes out when the ignition sparks for the first time.
Any thoughts on what to look for? Serious? Not so serious?
Thanks.

Ask the guy riding behind you. If you are not pouring out smoke on deceleration and if he is not complaining about it stinking - you have a long time before it gets serious.motopoeta wrote: Serious? Not so serious?

Look for the center stand.
Look for the center stand.

A well tuned bike ?
Blue smoke, both sides, eh ?
Using the center-stand won't help ...
Time for a leak-down ... likely to find that your exhaust guides are shot.

I had the same thing on my 83 R100RS. It was the rings. Guides were fine. Compression was good and overall running was good. I took it apart and brought everything into my local machine shop and in 2 seconds he said rings and showed me what he saw. Very fine scratch marks across the face and a light gray band in the center of the rings with shinny edges. I installed new rings (and refaced the valves and seats) and everything is fine now.
