That rust welded fuel cap is the only thing that is really concerning me right now......can't apply heat obviously, although it would be spectacular to watch from a distance. So I’m persevering with the rope trick as well as soaking the lock with plus gas penetrating fluid. I am pulling really hard but it’s not budging. Is the successful pulling action a gradual pull or a sharp tug? Sharp tug iirc. Rope around the back of your neck, feet on the pegs and stand up quickly.

Here's the cap deconstructed...it's press fitted together. When refitting it, lining up those holes (if yours has them) and inserting a small self tapper will stop it from turning too, avoiding the screw from the top technique. Unsure how the sidecar would affect this diagnosis method, but rolling the bike on a flat surface should not illicit any clicking sound from the trans. If you hear it, suspect that big front bearing.
