Re: Sorry folks a perennial question

I heard/read that the thickness of the diaphragms can vary depression on the manufacturer, which can impact performance. I have no first knowledge of this. It’s just what I’ve read.

The Beemershop no longer does that type of work anymore. They concentrate on suspension aka shocks and other parts. It’s a bummer as they were a great independent shop.

Re: Oil Leak

Agh! Old bikes. Rubbish, eh? My petrol tap has worn out the indents that make that lovely click in all three positions. No spares available but a new tap is at £40. I'm pondering how much I really like the clicks... It's odd/frustrating that you can buy replacement parts for almost all of the indiv...

Re: Charging issue

I would check all of your wiring. My 88 R100 RT sat for about 5-6 years. Prior to sitting, the voltage was indicated a bit above 14 volts. When I got it back on the road, the voltage was around 13.75. A year and a half ago, as part of replacing the timing chain, I replaced the alternator brushes, al...

Re: 1989 R100rt Mono fuse location

The manual for my 88 R100 RT indicates only two fuses on the bike, so you've located them both. As ME 109 and SteveD indicated, there are some relays under the tank on the right side.

Re: Going to the 2024 BMW MOA National Rally?

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll be coming through Ashland. I'm riding up with a group that will be taking 395 and camping at Goose Lake on the way up. I won't have a lot of time on the way home to take a detour, and I'll probably take 97 to I-5. Bummer.

Re: Voltage regulator questions

Years ago, I replaced the multi-terminal cable that connects on the backside of diode board to the three phases on the alternator. I think I was putting on the solid mounts (my board had the rubber mounts) and noticed that the multi plug had corrosion build up in it. Got three separate thick cables...

Re: Voltage regulator questions

I was having similar issues with my 88 R100 RT. While I was doing other work, I ended up replacing all the wiring to the alternator, the positive and negative cables, and the alternator brushes. I'm not sure which one or if it was a combination of things, but now my charging is strong. Many of the w...
