Re: Replacing ring gear seal ... (I am back)
You're implying you took the the outer cover off: I don't even wanna do that! Oh, and apologies for not properly re-introducing myself: I have been in hiding after the planned Alaska trip with a friend fell through in 2011. Took me a while to deal with it. Started that RS conversion project in 2012 ...

Replacing ring gear seal ...
Straight forward question: can I remove and replace the ring gear seal without disassembling the final drive on a 1982 R100 (RS)?

What you always wanted to know ... (torquing heads)
... and never dared to ask: So, I have done this before, torquing down a head on the /5. Never experienced a leak afterwards, so I must have done it right. What did I do: used small increments such as 1/4 turns in a cross-wise pattern with a clicker wrench set at 10, then 18 then 26. So, 3 "cli...

Re: Clutch ring spacers on new clutch? - Clutch install help
I bought a new clutch kit and was told not to use those spacers with the new style pressure plate. Is that true? I took that advice and installed the clutch plates without them. I went through the same thing earlier this month: the (forged and ribed) pressure plate has the spacers integrated so it ...

Re: Pushrod Seals
Thanks, Kurt. My measurement are all around 95mm on the /6 cylinders, 82mm on the /7 cylinders. Both stop rings are 5mm thick. Given the shape of the seals, either 82mm or 84mm on the /7 should seal just fine. Not sure why the /6 cylinder measure longer when all Airhead engines have the same stroke.

Re: Pushrod Seals
But it would seem that as long as the tube is positioned far "enough" into the head, the more critical dimension is what I was describing. In other words, you want the stop ring to be the right distance from the block so it puts the proper squeeze on the seals. Yes. And that is exactly my...
