Maybe check out Beemer Buddies. They attach with Velcro, don't absorb water, and are model-specific. They may have some that fit your bike perfectly.

Hello Sage members. I am new here, and I have been riding my '70 SWB for 5 years with my own quaint shop work (indebted to many, including members here). So far so good. . . .

Welcome to the forum Texer. It seems that, despite the similarities between the various flavors of airheads, that they can be so different in the feel of the ride. I've never planted my derriere on a SWB /5 and would have bought one if only the buyer didn't require so much money for it. There are different 'classical" airheads and a SWB /5 is definitely one of them that I covet. A SWB /5 is still one that 'got away".

I use the same grips that Rob imaged on my '73 Triumph, which vibrates quite a bit.
I assume the foam grips would work better, I like these and they fit the bike's style.
Most often, you find the reproductions of Gran Turismo grips.

Thanks Ken, I was fortunate. I knew that I wanted a /5, and when found and "got", learned about SWB etc. I have not ridden anything else, so am no expert on differences. It's a lot apart this winter, and I may have questions for the quorum as it goes back together for spring.

I have these. I love 'em. Unfortunately nla. I searched all over and was lucky to receive the generosity of Richard T who sent me his last available set. They were probably the last available anywhere! Thanks again to Richard.

These fit snugly on 22mm bars too.

I've looked for them, too, Steve. I use them on both my Bonneville and my R65. I still have an extra set (I stocked up a little) but I hope mine don't wear out too fast. I have worn out a set before, where they got kind of slick and that shark-skin sort of texture on the surface went away. I wonder why they quit making them. I would probably buy them even if they were made in China.

Geez---they do appear to have been NLA for several years. Why does an online retailer continue to catalog non-OE stuff that's gone for good?
