Stalls when coming to a stop!!

Slowly out stretching and running in the new legs on the 78 RS, done another 50km tonight and all feels good except one thing....
It idles nicely when I sitting in neutral, settles down to 1000rpms as it should do but If I am riding along and come to a corner and have to pull the clutch to change down and slow to a stop well the engine just dies.
It also then starts better if I find the neutral gear than trying to start it if I pull the clutch in while in gear..

Any thoughts??

Move the idle mixture screw out a blade width maybe?

I wonder if the butterfly o-rings might have some effect on this? They're the only things you haven't changed. The other o-rings were toast!

If it's stalling like that and the engine in up to operating temperature (50 km should do it) I vote for Lean idle setting.

Does the bike run OK at constant speed while running 70-75 mph? I was wondering if the floats were set so that the fluid level was too low and that the change in bike attitude in the turn and stopping is sloshing the low fuel level around, creating that same lean condition. But if the floats were that low, you'd notice that by running out fuel at the higher speeds.

was the engine rebuilt recently? or any clutch/flywheel work?
or did this just start happening on a bike that previously ran fine?

It could be related to improper crankshaft end play.

Good question for finding/discounting the cause of the stall. This is a flywheel bike issue too, as opposed to a clutch carrier, if I remember correctly?

All feels normal, bike just sits and waits to take off when I'm ready

I checked the plugs when I got home the other night and one side is slightly greyish in colour than the other, not oily and by the book images than look normal

Bike runs nicely at 70-75mph, no stumbles or it has never coughed since I have redone the pistons, rings and barrels

Just new barrels, rings and pistons installed, no clutch or flywheel work, I have only had the bike 6 months and when I got it home I rode it around the bloke once, put it up on the lift and started to repair and clean, so basically the bike is new to me,

Me either.

I was going in the direction of pmonk and Jj.

But as the bike doesn't stall when you put it into gear as pmonk asked, I'd say lift the idle speed to 1050 or thereabouts.
If that doesn't improve things, then George's lean idle setting would be next/or first, to check.

Will take some quick access tools with me tomorrow morning when I head off into the wild blue yonder through the rolling Gippsland hills and try a bit of tweaking along the way, it is really running lovely along the road, I have cut down the screen and the wind noise is all but gone, the love affair is starting to kick in again
