I read an article in a bicycling magazine where several guys with fat-tired mountain bikes did some trek across a remote Canadian area that needed several river crossings, and they had inflatable kayaks they took with them. They were able to strap the bicycles on the kayaks to get across and down the rivers. The link ZM gave sounds like that brand. I like the idea and that Taiga isn't as expensive as I thought it would be. If they can take them on bicycles, a motorcycle would be easy. But don't try hauling the motorcycle on the kayak.

Taiga is a really great place for well priced serious gear. Wouldn't by Gotex outerwear, and sleeping bags anywhere else.

Another life-time ago, we sold a few Sea Eagle inflatables at our textbook store in South Dakota. I tried out the 12 foot kayak a few times. Sorry I didn't buy it. It was very compact and would inflate in about 10 minutes time, if I remember correctly. Had five separate air chambers. They still make them....

Inflatable with a fold up frame.

Can't remember manufact but Tiaga rings a bell. Back in late 90's 2 buddies of time were biking across Canada and stayed over with me for 3-4 days to refuel, repair and relax as they had already crossed Canada from east St. John's NL to Tofina BCA and we're now on return leg down the Bruce Pennisula so arrange for stopover.

That both has the fold up plus inflatable kayaker. Roll down size to approx 12h x 24 w x 30l. They rolled out on smooth area and then spacers were added at strategic points to give kayak shape then were inflated also at strategic points and voila...instant kayak with all the same doogoodies as a regular kayak. Recall to pack up about 20 min the put together and 30 min to pack up. They packed them in rugged bags to protect from elements.

They mounted on top of the big rugged panniers with strapes. They rode GS's . Don't know how much they weighed but assumming 20-30lbs?

They are avid fishermen so used a lot for fishing. Also used a lot at lakes at various camp sites as well to explore. One friend said cost about $800-900 for unit.
