John Hinds; The Worlds Fastest Doctor

Post by Bamboo812 »

Intense, frightening and funny presentation by Dr. John Hinds, one of the first responders at the Isle of Man and elsewhere, with actual footage of some of the major accidents he has witnessed. Warning; not for the squeamish... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsZBXlTHPCg#t=12

whistle..........

I'm glad I never lost a boot!

I still had 15 minutes to go, and I started thinking: "This is a great way to get a conscious motorcyclist to quit riding!".

I gotta work tonight, so I quit watching there. I learned a lot of medicine in those first 30 minutes, though.

I'm glad he got to give lectures and make videos to share.
Hopefully he was published in medical journals.

A two minute tribute to Dr. John:

Thanks Tim - instructive, scary and with fine Irish humour.
I am never going to come off my bike ever again.

And if I come upon a johnny racer that has crashed with his leathers on, I will know to cut out his hump on his back!

It appears the lecture is to Australian doctors/paramedics, thus the medical jargon. I bet SteveD will love it.
Damn pity the guy died.

That was very interesting. The approach wasn't a surprise though. Co-ordinated, assessment and task driven. A,B,C rules where ever you are, but knowing how to assess the environment and knowing the mechanism of injury as he explained a few times took him to the most important problems in good time. Legendary stuff really and presented with an alacrity at odds with the topic.

Seems like a fun and useful fellow. Too bad we lost him.
