From what's been described, I doubt if its better brakes could make up for the lower power. On a consistent winding road where acceleration isn't important but it's all about maintaining speed through corners, the 250 should win - and on a long tight winding downhill, the 250 should be way faster due to FAR superior brakes.
Did a similar road on my R100 (S fairing) hanging on to a couple of friends on a Bandit 1200 and a VFR800. They didn't get away.
Watching your tach and speedo - 3rd gear? Sometimes 2nd?
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Good fun, innit!
Yeah mostly third with second on most of the hairpins. The road is tighter than it looks on video. My engine has good power in the upper revs and keeps the momentum. Having no brakes maintains momentum through the curves too.
Jeff, you have considerably more faith in the coefficient of friction at the road/tyre interface than me. Not to mention your faith in all those moving parts keeping on moving while the tacho needle hovers near the red bit.
Gotta love the Granya Gap road. One of my fabourite local test rides.
ps: What happened to Repsol Man? Didn't he fall off that road a while back?

Not that I know of.
Maybe that was the guy 3/4 of the way through this vid. He nearly fell off when I passed him, and then he did fall off several corners later. No injuries to him and a little bark off the bike.

Took a bit of trial and error to get the gopro sound right, Mal. I use a little stereo mic that sits under my jacket out of the wind.
Two gopro's would be fun! The old Honda sings well.
