Carb question

In the interests of science I took my old used floats into work and weighed them. They have been drying out on the shelf for 15 months. Both were approx. 14.97 Grams with only the 3rd decimal place between them. That surprised me as there was a much bigger difference between them when they came out I forget the exact weight but one was 15.xxx and the other 16.xxx, so they have lightened some but not by much and not nearly enough to be re-used.

Hey, someone from a search party came by and said I should look in on the forum and maybe catch up.

I put the carb together after cleaning it and it seems to work well and not leak. I haven't taken it out for a ride yet but I did run it. It has new fuel line from the "T'' down, new floats, new bowl gasket and new "needle" (?). Also, I lost the hot dang safety pin and had to get a new one of those.

I don't have steering dampers on most of my bikes and had not felt the need for them. Ironically, the bike that had a damper is the one that sent me break dancing on Hwy 78. Still, I'd like to have dampers on before much riding at higher speeds is done. It's still a quandary, that irony regarding the damper. I don't think I had the one on the R90S set to do any damping, though.

There you have it, no leaks. Hope a test ride proves it good, too.

I ran without a damper for years without issue, as in higher speed stability. Lower speed below 35mph is where I see a benefit from a good damper on my bike.
The oe dampers don't work that well at best, iirc.
