Need new tires for one of my bikes.
Tires bought on web can be bought at great prices. The little Indy shop that I've used for 4 decades charges twice the amount to mount/balance if not bought through them.
My questions are:do they mind doing this?
Does the increased cost of M/B of web bought tires cover the small profit they make selling you tires too?
Do they (usually) handle the job just like you had bought these tires through them?
Anyone have some insider view/info on this.

Re: New tires
When I was young, my father had a service station.
He had a sign in the back showing a guy sitting at a counter at a luncheonette.
The patron had brought in raw eggs and bacon.
The caption said, "you wouldn't do this, so why would you do this?" with another image of a guy bringing a muffler into a repair shop.
In addition to profit, liability also applies.
Some shops mind. Other's don't.

Re: New tires
Just learn to mount and balance your own tires. It really isn't an easy job, but I bet that they don't even know how to do it correctly, few dealerships do.
Buy the Marc Parnes balancer. There is one on eBay now.

Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.

Agreeing with Duane. Because I like to know the details of exactly how my 45 year old tech wheels are addressed. So.. I do it my self.

Agree. Its a job that should best left to someone who will take time and care. Also a good time to look at wheel bearings and brakes. Be sure to fit a quality new tube if your bike takes a tube also...
