It is for the long-haul, hard-core touring rider.

I recommend the quilted solo seat in the photo SteveD provided, if you plan to ride tank-to-tank!

I do NOT recommend the billboard-sized roundel on the side...

I doubt you could go anywhere with that tank and not be accosted by airhead riders.

Thanks ZM! I don't really know which way to go.....
The thing is so long I think going 'tank to tank' on that solo seat could be an eye waterer!!! Not much ball room! But you're right, it would certainly attract attention but is primarily an ultra distance accessory and as per the other pics, its 'loaf of bread' look could be softened with a sympathetic paint job and a tank bag! Watch this space!!! hools

Those last two pictures on Page 1 look familiar. Paging Randy to the courtesy-phone...

Well, one thing that tank would do would be to support one's image as an Iron Butt rider. Now if I were an Iron Butt poseur that would be the tank for me. Of course I couldn't ride with anybody, at least anybody who even knew what Iron Butting was about. And I don't know how I could maintain an Iron-Butter image, what with my need to stop every hour or so and rub my sore ass.

Of course I could just ride alone. I would have to scruff up my riding outfit, and maybe not shave for a week or so. A week's or so of stubble would go a long way toward supporting my Iron-Butter image. But I would have to shave my beard and mustache first though.

Too bad there's not a (good) image for me as I am with my natural grooming.

Nah! I think I'll just go on, going on as I am. There's gotta be chicks and the occasional dude admiring the image I naturally project.

Ken, groomed as much as I'm going to get groomed--in Oklahoma

I lucked out a few years back when Vanzen posted the above Hein Gericke eBay with a buy it now price of 250. Snatched it right up. After stripping the old paint off, a local body shop sprayed and clear-coated it for only 75 bucks. I added the krylon pinstripes before the clear-coat was added. It's held up quite well over the years. I took the big tank off about three years ago. May put it back on this fall.

Looks right pretty to me, Randy.
But then, I am partial to the R65 tank...
And I am soft for most anything slightly exotic.
